Game Concept Devlog
Working Title
Flappy Animals
Concept Statement
Flappy Animals is an arcade-style game with easy-to-understand and challenging gameplay that combines the addictive gameplay of rhythm games with the highest score game elements. The player will control the critter, moving to the right. The player's task is to change the jumping height of the small animal by constantly clicking to get the highest score through pipes with different gap sizes and random measurements.
Category of game
Endless Runner / The game adopts 2D mode; the player can only control the character by clicking.
Concept creation process
Flappy Animals was born from the marriage of two design approaches: the classic "easy to learn, hard to master" gameplay of Flappy Bird combined with the aural feast and cute backgrounds of rhythm music games. By combining Flappy Bird's easy-to-operate mechanics with lighthearted and straightforward environments, our goal was to create an addictive and relaxing experience. Influenced by games such as "Jetpack Joyride" and "Tiny Wings," we improved the core mechanics to maintain the frustration-challenge-reward loop.
Audience and competitive analysis
Flappy Animals is designed to appeal to a broad audience, from casual gamers looking for quick fun to competitive gamers aiming to climb the global leaderboards. Our analysis shows that the mobile gaming market still has room for addictive and simple games that can be enjoyed during short breaks. Although "Flappy Bird" pioneered the genre, "Flappy Animals" mainly uses the style of art and background music to attract players' desire to play the game.
Game treatment
In Flappy Animals, players steer their critters through procedurally generated levels set in adorable environments. With intuitive one-touch controls, the player can control the height of the critter, allowing it to pass through tight spaces between dead pipes. Furthermore, as the player controls the longer, the speed of the small animal will gradually increase.
